At it’s heart, AutoXChange is a conversion engine to convert from various CAD related formats into various publishing ralated formats. The most popular CAD format is AutoCAD DWG (and DXF). Simple Vector Graphics (known as SVG) is supported natively on all modern browsers. AutoXChange will convert any version of AutoCAD DWG and DXF since 1985 into SVG.
Integration with CADViewer
AutoXChange really shines with combined with CADViewer, our online drawing viewer. This javascript-based viewer works with AutoXChange to seemlessly display AutoCAD DWG drawings via either on-demand or on-upload drawing conversion to SVG.
Command Line Driven
AutoXChange is a command line driven tool. This means it is designed to run from the command prompt or to be used programatically. It does not have a fancy user interface. It is designed to perform high quality, high volume conversions of AutoCAD DWG and DXF files with a high degree of accuracy and minimum of conversion time.
SVG Extensions
AutoXChange goes beyond the normal SVG specification to extend the SVG file to include better layer support, multiple page drawings sets, and AutoCAD coordiante and scaling information.
Unicode Fonts
AutoXChange is designed to use Unicode fonts for Multibyte Character languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean and non-Latin languages like Hebrew and Cyrilic-based languages when converting from AutoCAD DWG or DWF to SVG. Fonts are supported as long as they, or a mapped equivalent, are present on the converting system. Non-latin layer and line type names are fully supported.
Linux and Windows
AutoXChange is available on both Linux and Windows. Most Linux distributions have been tested and are supported.
